THIS workshop has been devised to help you get your ideas and experiences down on the page. Material created during the course given can be used by novelists, short story writers, life-memoirists, playwrights or poets as an impetus for their work. If you have trouble creating new work, this course will help you to find stories in you that you didn't know were there.

This course will include:

   • five 2.5 hour writing sessions (Weeks 1 - 5)

   • techniques to start writing and/or develop work-in-progress
   • a chance to initiate pieces or to expand a manuscript  
   • the opportunity to have writing done in the workshop read and discussed
   • Open Mic session (Week 6) for those who wish to share prepared work (voluntary)

LEVEL

The workshop will be conducted in a friendly, constructive atmosphere and is open to anyone with a desire to write, from beginners to experienced writers.

DROP-IN PARTICIPANTS
If you are unable to do the whole course or would like to try it, you can attend on a drop-in basis. The cost per session is £29. Please email or phone beforehand to ensure a place will be available. Drop-in sessions are payable in advance.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Bound notebook, pen & a spare. A clipboard is useful.

OPEN MIC NIGHT • 16 APRIL
Week 6 is Open Mic Night where you will have the opportunity to read prepared work. If you wish to participate as a reader in the showcase evening, you'll need to bring photocopies in order to give you the best feedback on your work. These copies will be returned to you to help in your rewrite. Word limit: 1300

COURSE DATES

The sessions are held on a Monday evening. The course dates are: 5 March, 12 March, 19 March, 26 March, 2 April and 16 April.

EASTER BANK HOLIDAY
This is a 6-week course over a period of 7 weeks because of Easter Monday.There will be a 1-week break on Monday, 9 April. Class will resume on 12 April for the last workshop.

WHAT YOU CAN DO NEXT
