Date: Sunday, 11 November & Sunday, 18 November 2012
Time: 12.30PM - 7.00PM

Length of course: 2 days

Tube: Kings Cross

Cost: £100. Drop-in session: £57 (1 day only)

DO you feel you’re in control of your material . . . or is it in control of you? Do you look at one of your manuscripts and know something is wrong, but don’t know how to fix it? Do you dream of having your work in print? If you have had your work rejected, do you want to know how to successfully edit your prose?

A recent study indicated that 21% of the adult population in the UK would like to take time off work to write a book. While there are more novels being published than ever before, it is still extremely difficult for new writers to break through the glass ceiling. This 2-day hands-on workshop uses short talks, exercises and your own work to help you start to see your work more objectively. The sessions will allow you to:

  • discover how restructuring transforms a manuscript
  • develop an eye for the superfluous, the repetitive, the boring
  • learn correct formatting and presentation
  • edit both your own and others' manuscripts
  • have your writing edited and discussed
  • reshape and edit an example of your own work between sessions

This workshop will run on two Sundays, a week apart with 5 hours of tuition each day. The workshop will be conducted in a friendly, constructive atmosphere that is conducive to learning.
